  • Only In The English Language

Two words that sound exactly the same and mean exactly the opposite - raze and raise. Does anyone know of any others?

  • My Turn Now

I have been tagged by cj592, lyndlj, KanAmoist, and Avrilo, so here we are - seven random facts about me:

    I have a terrible memory.

I've been face to face with an ostrich - scarey bird. My husband was brave enough to let it eat out of his hand whilst I hid behind him.:))

I haven't dusted for around three years.

I haven't ironed anything for around three years.

I dislike intensely almost every shade of pink.

I love new money - crisp notes, shiny coins. Love them so much I can hardly bear to spend them. Conversly, I hate old dirty money and spend it as fast as I can.

I love salads so much I could happily live on them for the rest of my life.

If you think that points three and four make me lazy and a slut, well, you'd be wrong, but I don't feel like explaining it today (or maybe even any day), although some of you might have a good idea.

I'm not sure I'll get round to tagging anyone, since it would appear that just about everyone has done this, but if you haven't and want to do it, please consider yourselves tagged. The rules are:

“Each person tagged gives 7 random facts about themselves. Those tagged need to write in their blogs the 7 facts, as well as the rules of the game. You need to tag seven others and list their names on your blog. You have to leave those you plan on tagging a note in their comments so they know that they have been tagged and to read your blog.”

  • Painful Update

I'm still in loads of pain, but it's slightly more bearable now. Thank you to everyone who responded to my last post and offered sympathy and/or advice. I will reply to you later. First of all I need to have a cup of tea which I must drink downstairs and not in front of the computer as I can't carry it upstairs. Then I would like to read what the rest of you have posted. And then I should write my list of seven as I have been tagged several times. So far I can only think of one thing about me, and actually I've forgotten that. Well, the first point will have to be that I have a dreadful memory.

  • I Am In Agony

I am in so much pain. It's been gradually getting worse over the past couple of weeks, but today it's all I can do not to cry with it. I went to see my GP on Thursday and he's diagnosed a torn muscle in my back with resultant muscle spasms. He prescribed me codeine and paracetamol, which doesn't actually seem to be having any effect, other than giving me constipation, which isn't a bad thing as it's too painful to reach round to wipe my bum.

You should have heard me this morning as I leapt out of bed. I'm sure every one of my neighbours did as I howled and howled uncontrolably with the pain. I just don't know what I'm going to do. Instead of getting better, it's getting worse. I've got an appointment with the physiotherapist in a couple of weeks time. Just how am I supposed to cope until then, I wonder?

  • I Am In

This stupid thing has just posted itself. I hadn't even finished writing the title, or rather I was still typing it out when it happened. Obviously Blog.co.uk is in a hurry today, but I do think it's rather rude not to even wait unitl I've keyed in the title.

  • Am I Inspired Or Am I Just Fooling Myself?

Has anyone ever come across the phrase comment chameleon before, because I think I just invented it. See my comment to Mr GrayBags in my previous post here. I've never seen it before, but I won't be in the least surprised if I see it from now on. Now is it possible I'm the first and only person to have thought of it, or am I one of a multitude?

  • Blog Comments

Recently GrayBags101 asked the question Which Do You Prefer To Comment On. I thought it was a question worth asking and answering, so I ask it myself. Are there posts you are more inclined to to comment on than others, or are you like me and just comment when the mood takes you?

  • We Don't Want No Bees Here

I came across this article whilst interweb hopping the other day. Strange things are afoot in the world of bees. I hope whatever it is that's causing their disappearance stays away from here.

  • Never the Right One

Why is it that blokes I wouldn't fancy if they were the last beings on earth are attracted to me? I wish for once someone I actually like the look of would chat me up.

  • Does Anyone Know?

The Mystery of the Telephone Call deepens. Yesterday I had a call from a man (at last I think a man, there being so much interference it was difficult to tell) who just asked 'Can you hear me?' before we were seemingly cut off. I dialed 1471 and got a number I didn't recognise, so being on my guard, thanks to comments on the previous post, I didn't call back.

What I am wondering now is, does anyone know what the initial numbers 0709 signify? Is it one of those expensive several pounds a minute lines, or are they the initial numbers of a mobile network?

  • Mystery Caller

Some man left me a phone message last week. Or rather half a message since he was so eager to leave it that he didn't wait for the beep. That would be the part where he would have left his name. As for his number, he said to dial 1471 to get that. Only problem there is that there were a couple more messages after his, so there was no possibility of retrieving it. I've not heard from him again, so maybe not only did he not actually leave name or number, he may even have not left them for the wrong person. Or maybe he's still waiting.

  • GoingSomewhere Is Thinking 6

We are all threads in the fabric of life. Although weak and insignificant of themselves they support each other and thus contribute to the strength of the whole.

  • Maintenance Day

Some maintenance today, I think. I really should do all the little jobs that have been hanging around since .... well, since forever it seems like. Some tidying up here, which looks like a job for a few mintues, but doubless will take hours. Apart from that there's lots of houseworky stuff to do, stuff I'm always putting off for a different day - well, that different day has arrived. And there's the garden. It's the beginning of May and I haven't got a single seed in yet. Just thinking about all I've got to do is doing my head in, so maybe I'll just go for a walk. Maybe later .... walk or work, what a choice
