Recently GrayBags101 asked the question Which Do You Prefer To Comment On. I thought it was a question worth asking and answering, so I ask it myself. Are there posts you are more inclined to to comment on than others, or are you like me and just comment when the mood takes you?

Are you really something of a comment chameleon then?

I find that if you dont adapt to the feelings of your readers (personal blog) then there is no point in running a blog and it just becomes an outlet for a one track mind

Yes. The same principles as in conversation apply here too.

I comment on stuff I can relate to, or stuff that's surprised me, //or// just when the mood takes me

Covering all bases then.

My comment style varies with my mood. Sobriety or otherwise is also a factor... I try to avoid commenting at all on the long whinges, as anything I say to try to help is likely to cause suicides.
I did not send this, I was not here.-

Are you related to Jean-Paul Sarte, by any chance?

I prefer to comment on posts that touch me the most, or that I can well relate to, or that I find amusing.
I read a lot of posts, but sometimes, also, I either don't have the time, or just am too tired, to place a comment.-

I wonder which category this post falls into.
Commenting certainly does take up a lot of time. I find I spend more time on that than actually posting.

I can't find any method to my commenting. All I can say is that there isn't much of it, because I read very little, mostly due to time restrictions. I suppose I should probably comment more as a means of getting people to read mine more, but now that I've gone back into semi-aestivation it hardly seems worth it. Ho hum.

Commenting certainly can be very time-consuming and I'm not sure it significantly adds to one's own readership anyway. I think the most successful way of increasing the number of readers is to post more, which is doubless what happened on your own blog recently.
It's always good to see you comment here. Thanks.

I think we're all comment chameleons aren't we? Depending on the style of the post...
And no, I hadn't seen it before, but can I steal it? -

I think you're right, we are. It all depends on who we're communicating with - here the style of a post, and in conversation we do the same. (I hope that sentence makes sense.)
Of course, you can steal it.
Makes me feel good that you want to. -

I meant to ask: Is it similar to a karma chameleon?
-
- Thursday, 24. May, 2007 @ 14:56:25
It's similar to all those sorts of chameleons that aren't the actual creature that is one.

for me personally it depends what mood I am in, typically I am in a stupid mood so will leave daft comments, however I will also leave serious comments if the article I am reading is in that tone, similar to a persons comments on my blog, if it's silly I will reply in a silly manner, but if they are serious and it looks to me like they want a conversation along that tone I will leave a suitable comment for them..
it's a bit like being a radio DJ host sometimes.
