Me: "Well, neither had I until I had your sister. And your brother. And you."
Pause whilst I consider what I've just said, then: "Except your brother and you, that is."

  I'm the same. My youngest was covinced she had three names. And it hasn't stopped - I frequently call my granddaughter by my daughter's name.

    LOL..it's not just me then as I too often call my daughters by each others names and sometimes they get addressed by my husband's name too

      Looks like the world is peopled with mothers like us - and here was I (and my poor children) thinking it was only me. Don't think I ever called them by my husband's name, though. Or maybe I've just forgotten - my memory is practically in shreds.

I hear you. There have been many a time that I have stood in the kitchen barking out commands to my kids and not being able to remember their names.

I tend to call the kids by the cats' names, and vice versa - but always my son by the older, male cat's name and my daughter by the younger, female cat's name - the personalities are a spookily good fit!
Fortunately, the kids recognise that, coming from me, it is actually a compliment, and the cats don't seem too bothered

Imagine my Mum having to go through 5 names before she reached the one she wanted - her sixth child. Poor chap - no wonder he keeps to himself all these years!
