. . . of women who never admit to anything being their fault, so naturally someone else is to blame for anything from small mishap to total disaster. And thus it was with the cooker that caught fire. The fact that it has been on the blink for years and that I did nothing about it naturally had nothing to do with it. I just put up with various inconveniences like no oven timer and faulty thermostat and the resultant culinary disasters. Even a huge bang and flash of light when I last put the oven on didn't stop me from using it, when I quite plainly should have had more sense. Obviously that had deserted me - then and later when I sought to blame Jenray for what happened. Of course she wasn't to blame - for once I'll admit it was all my own fault. The whole thing was meant to be tongue in cheek, but obviously I didn't do it right because I managed to upset Jenray ( http://truepathfinder.blog.co.uk/2009/06/20/not-very-nice-6348351/#comments ) and I'm sorry as that certainly was not my intention.

I did take it as tongue in cheek at first - see my comment on it...but then panicked and thought it might be something to do with my recipe directions especially as there was no explanation as to why the oven caught fire...now I know, I can relax again...

Don't feel bad, when my mum first got married, she didn't know to use the oven in their caravan, and it wound up blowing her across the room...last week, I got caught on the loo with rashers of bacon in a skillet with the hob on still on...and almost set the kitchen on fire.
In other words, it happens to the best of us!
Big hug xx Nice to see you back for a bit!

Thank you for those reassuring words - never used to happen to me before - a bit worrying really.
Thank you. It's good to be back for a bit, but doubt I shall be able to sustain post production - unless I start writing about the other casualties (of which there are a few) in my house.
Big Hug to you xx

Time for a new cooker!
I've just bought one and it's great to have an oven that works and instant flames to cook with.

I'm sure Jenray knows that you were being tongue in cheek - but I'm glad to know I'm am not alone in putting off the obvious and then blaming others.
